OIA REWARD RETREATS AND INCENTIVE

Dubai retreats: In Desert land..

December took us to an exotic and exiting destination. A country that is small, but aspires to be big in most things. It is designing the biggest airport, is constructing what will be the tallest building in the world, boasts of the most expensive hotel in the world… and all this from the desert sands!

You guessed it right. The destination was Dubai… burning sands, azure seas and glittering gold.

What made this trip special for our clients, a leading Pharmaceutical – healthcare company, was that, packaged between the meticulously designed shopping and the sightseeing, were the teambuilding and the learning components. While teams were challenged to design the New city of their dreams in a morning of creativity and bonding, they were given the time of their life during the desert adventure activities.

The Citigen Next was a teambuilding program specially designed to match the mood of the participants and the learning outcomes expected by the management. In a “micro-world”**created by OIA, the participants stepped into their new personas created with in a strong story line. Meeting a Sheikh, wielding gold coins, demanding creativity. The Desert team building involved Quad bike challenges, encounters with the camels, Dune bashing and sand board staking.

Fear, we learnt, is a great glue to bond and screaming perhaps a good stress buster? Why else was everyone laughing when they got out from the four-wheel drives, ready for an even harrowing experience, sand boarding on the dunes?

From the taste of snow to exotic mid eastern and Bedouin cuisine, from Moroccan dervish to nubile belly dancing … dinner on the privatized Dow cruise, photo opportunities at Burj Al Arab…dates and spices, the group from Singapore embraced each new experience created fro them.

The cherry or the date on the cake – was the trip to Sharjah, the pearl of the Emirates overlooking the Persian Gulf. Culture, history and more shopping…. and yet more shopping at the Dubai DFS…Can tiring be energizing? Life thrives on paradoxes. Most left the airport looking forward to getting to work later that morning, armed with stories to tell and camera loads of photographs.

**OIA ‘Micro world’ teambuilding events allow the unfolding in a creative organic manner. The participants are transported into a more present world; with specially designed story lines, where they don new personas, and in the process discover some new perspectives of themselves or their colleagues. OIA facilitators tie in the learning by helping the participants to make meaning of the experiences.
