A new breed of socially responsible sports events – an adventure with a cause.
PADDLE FOR EARTH is co-organised by SPC and OIA events. SPC called OIA and asked OIA whether we could help. Not only did we accept but we asked them: can we be as crazy as you guys.
What is special about this event?
This event is about sharing – sharing passion and energy.
12 men – corporate leaders – have a passion: paddling. Isn’t it crazy to want to go paddling for 9 days – almost non stop – get exhausted continuously for so many days, soaked wet, possibly sea sick? But they want to do it. Are they MAD? YES: they want to make a difference.
We called them Paddles Heroes. Why?
- Is that because they are going to paddle more than 400 kilometeres over 8 days, paddle all the way to the equator and back and it was never done before? Not just
- Is that because they want to associate 2 noble causes and 2 charities to the expedition?
- Is that because every Saturday some SPC guys are welcoming beginners for some rookie sessions – Free and open to all? Yes but that not all
- Not only are we going to “make a first”, but beyond the publicity it is about to attract the Singaporean to the sport, and it is about attracting more teams, more countries to take part and put Singapore on the international map
- What we wish is that every year, the “Paddle For Earth” expedition becomes a bigger, more exiting events where nations from Asia and from the world gather and paddle together to re-unite lands and continents
