A program designed for developing supervisory skills.
The Program Design:
The program has been designed to help the participants in their transition from being a team member on equal terms with their peers to being team leader, often forced to take unpopular decisions.
The program will -
- Initiate them into complexities of their new roles and provide them with the knowledge and skills to bridge the divide between their team and the management
- Provide supervisors with necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviors to prepare new supervisors for their changing roles and responsibilities and increase their effectiveness.
Objectives
By the end of the program, the participants will be able to:
- Identify with the organisations values and culture
- Develop a positive attitude to learning new skills and take personal responsibility in adapting to the new role.
- Learn about various leadership styles and identify their own.
- Understand their new roles and responsibilities better.
- Identify barriers to communication and communicate better.
- Learn to apply core managerial skills to manage self and others.
- Build and motivate teams, by effective feedback and appreciation.

Course Duration
A total of 8 Classroom sessions
- 4 hrs for 5 days (20hrs).
- followed by 2 three -hour sessions once a week (4hrs).
Plus: One 2-hour booster session 6 weeks after completion of program, to handle residual issues that might arise when applying the skills at work, and to reinforce knowledge.

Program Content
Understanding self and others
This session will focus on the role clarity and responsibilities of the supervisor, aligning with the organization vision and mission. By understanding ones strengths and weaknesses supervisors will learn to recognize their own personalities and behavioural profile – understand individual differences and dynamics of group interaction- how personalities help and hinder team successes: proactive response to change.
Leading from the front:
In this session the participants will gain an understanding of day–to-day concerns of supervision and the different styles of leadership. They use self-assessment tools to identify their own styles:
- balancing tasks and people
- Team maintenance
People Skills-Communication
This section is an introduction of the communication process. It will cover the effective communication-Verbal and non-verbal, questioning skills, listening skills, body language and meetings and group dynamics.
Resolving Conflicts
Conflict is a part of work life. The response to conflict and how it is managed is an important leadership skill. Participants will gain a better understanding of the nature of conflict in the workplace – attitudes, managing emotions, and conflict management strategies – investing in positive relationships.
Team work, Motivation and Appreciation
During this session, participants will learn to understand the roles played in teams, capitalize on team strengths, learn how to build rapport and influence, decision making, and understand what motivates people and how to appreciation can motivate, using feed back as a self improvement tool.
Self organization and Managing stress
The participants will learn how to effectively manage themselves_ balance their time and their work load, goal setting, learn the art of delegation and tracking and how to identify stress.
Coaching and Mentoring
Participants will understand the importance of personnel reaching optimal performance as early as possible.
